Brooklyn Circus Floral Print Short Sleeve Shirt

A fact, I’m not really a fan of short sleeve shirts. If I find thats its too warm to deal with full length sleeves, I just roll them up. This bit of information doesn’t mean I don’t own a single short sleeve shirt, it just means it better be one hell of a shirt. Enter my pick-up from the Brooklyn Circus spring release one. Thats all I have to say. If you are lucky enough to find one in stock somewhere I would advise you do so.

A.P.C. New Standard – 1 year later

After a solid year, of fixed gear sprints, running to catch BART, NYC winter twice, and just plan sitting on my ass at work, today marks the first anniversary of my A.P.C. new standards. Its been a great year with them, and I can say they are as comfortable to me as a pair of sweat pants. I just pick them up without even thinking about it and go about my day. And while I can’t honestly say I wore them EVERY day, there was rarely more then 2 days in between wears. Also they required a hot soak to get them resized after not wearing a belt led to the waist becoming a little larger then I liked. At this point in their life I don’t plan on retiring them, they are gonna need one more repair soon, but they will be my seconds to a pair of Naked & Famous x Momotaro I have sitting in my closet. They are long due for a real wash, and I’ll more then likely sun dry them to lighten the color some. All that said, I <3 my A.P.C.s, they've lasted me a solid year, and I'll be wearing them well into the next year.

For those of you interested in getting into the selvedge denim underworld, I would HIGHLY recommend choosing A.P.C. as they will put up with whatever you can throw at them. The quality is great and the range of cuts is more then enough to find what you're looking for.

“BKc Academy” SF Pop-Up Shop rundown

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend the launch of the Brooklyn Circus’ “BKc Academy” pop-up shop launch. The event itself was great, as is the norm with anything BKc puts on, but one of the highlights of the event, was getting a chance to see the new holiday releases. All I can say is, daaayum… The pop-up, I believe, will be open until the end of the year, check the BKc blog for location and details. For those of you that can’t make it out to the pop-up, you might wanna give the guys a ring if you see anything you might be interested in. I would before the word gets out.

I need one of these parkas bad.

Pegleg NYC

The USA crew sweatshirt by Pegleg NYC, was one of the few items I actually purposely got on my computer to pick up on Black Friday. Sizing seems a little bit bigger, as I got a Large but think I could have done with a medium. Regardless, I like it a lot, partially because the design reminds me of the flag of D.C.

Carhartt Roper Pant fit

So usually I do fit pics if I get a request, and the Roper pants brought a couple. So after spending the past 4 days in the Carhartts, here is my my simple fit pick and a quick overview.
- The denim is pretty damn dark, makes me think that as they start to break in, that there will be some nice contrasting fades.
- Extremely comfortable. While the outside of the denim is rough, my knees aren’t being sanded, as I’ve experiences with other jeans.
- The cinch is great. I’ve had other jeans with a cinch back before and actually using it made the jeans feel awkward and sitting was even worse, but with these I don’t even notice.
- I got a 32×32 but i’m almost certain i could have done smaller, unless I’m losing weight, which is highly possible.
- Looks like its gonna be black shoes for a bit while these suckers bleed out a little bit.
- I learned to take pictures so I didn’t have to be on the other side of the camera, I need to hire a model or intern…

Carhartt Roper Pant

As my APC jeans begin to approach the 10 month mark, the need for repair becomes more and more of a reality with each passing week. Luckily I’ve had a couple options on the back burner, and a pair that I’m waiting on Self Edge to get in stock for further investigation. Todd over at UNIONMADE, put me on to a pair of Carhartt Roper Pants, a 14oz selvage denim from Carhartt’s Heritage line. Most are used to the bulkier, slightly lower quality materials of Carhartt’s normal workwear lines, but I can assure you that they sparred no expense with these. Slim fit, cinch-back, leather square label, button fly, the ropers are a pair of denim that would easily stand against the competition in its price range. At this point I’m sure your next question is whats the fit like? Well, I’d is along the lines of a New Standard, but slightly slimmer. Its by no mean skinny, and as far as sizing; if you intend to pummel them before washing, go one size down, otherwise stick with your true size. These, as well as many other pieces from the Carhartt Heritage collection, are still available in limited quantities over at UNIONMADE.

Closer look: Pendleton Jacquard Hoodie

Native American patterns are something I have a small obsession with, and I’ve been rather determined to work at least one piece with a traditional pattern into rotation for the fall/winter months. My article of choice is from the American-heritage label, Pendleton. If something seems familiar about this piece, its because it was the first item I featured in my Fall Approaches post. The Jacquard Hoodie is 100% virgin wool done in their traditional Jerome pattern. As you might imagine, this hoodie shines when it comes to generating heat, and its lightweight construction makes it perfect for layering. Whether under a denim jacket or a down vest, just a small hint of the hoodie is enough to set off any outfit.

Clae Ellington fit

I got a couple requests for a fit for the Ellingtons, so I had Nicole snap a quick picture of me. The trick is to just treat them as though they were a normal pair of brick sole Bucks, nothing overly complicated. Any dark denim, a white oxford, red base plaid, pink(cranberry), or even navy blue, and its a done deal. So there you have it.

Although most of the East Coast is still suffering from second-degree sunburn, please keep in mind that Fall isn’t terribly far off. Before you know it, you’ll be tossing your sandals and shorts into a plastic, cedar block-laced time capsule where they’ll reside until next year. The threat of heat stroke is no reason to slouch on copping your Fall gear, so get on it. Here are some of the items I’m looking forward to this season, although most would require I sell a couple vital organs to obtain.

A.P.C. New Standard – Month 3

Months ago I decided to finally dip my toe in the selvedge denim pool, as I began to tire of crappy quality, ill-fitting jeans, that I would just end up donating months later. With much research and budget consideration, I settled a pair of New Standards, by the French label A.P.C., as my inaugural pair. Well this weekend marked three months into project second skin, or “are you wearing those same damn jeans?”, as its more commonly known. Originally, these jeans were purchased two sizes down as I was aware of A.P.C.’s tendency to stretch, and after the first week they were almost perfect waist size 34. So far the fading is going according to plan, and overall they still feel nearly as crisp and solid as they did after that first week of wear. I’m very pleased with my pick and would highly recommend then to those interested. I’m really looking forward to comparing shots in a couple months to see the progress and will keep you guys up to date.
